Since the girls were finally old enough we decided that we would actually go the fireworks this year. We headed down to the area at about 5pm. Our church had set up a few of the bounce houses so the girls enjoyed jumping in those for a while. Then we stopped by a friend's house where my parents and sister & family were attending a party. We headed back over to the fields to eat some dinner (fair-style food - YUM!). We hung out for quite awhile (next year we will go later) and then we met up with a good friend of mine from high school and his family. Our kids our close to the same age so they had a great time playing together while we waited for the fireworks to start.
The fireworks were really awesome. We enjoyed front row seats about 100 yards behind the police tape. We even got "ashed" on as fragments of the fireworks fell on us. Sierra really liked the fireworks. Raquel was not so impressed as she spent much of the time hiding under the hood of her coat while I plugged her ears. Sierra fell asleep in the van on the way home. She looked so cute.
The next day we went to the parade downtown. The kids really enjoyed it (especially the candy). We couldn't stay the whole time as we had to get down to Skyview Ranch to cook dinner for their staff refocus weekend. We were glad that we were able to go though.
